Now, I can’t speak for everyone who's a part of Traveller Collective, but I live in a country where I have an ability to make my travel dreams come true. Sure, I have to watch my spending and make some sacrifices but, at the end of the day, if I want it enough, I have the ability to save enough money for travel.
But it’s just not the same for people in many developing countries. They share the same dream of seeing the world but, in their reality, they will likely never get the opportunity. The idea of saving enough money to travel is impossible to comprehend and, unfortunately, their dream of seeing the world will almost certainly remain a dream forever.
I always find myself coming back to these thoughts, especially when the idea of travel comes up in conversations with locals. It makes me feel pretty damn lucky to have the opportunity to travel the world because I know these opportunities aren’t there for everybody.
But why can't these opportunities be open to more people? I, like many of you, know firsthand the amazing, life-changing experiences travel can bring and it would benefit all of us if these experiences were attainable for more people.
So, just like that, gifting travel was born. It's a way we can give back and help fulfill someone's travel dream!
Admittedly, there will be a lot of challenges. There a lot of moving parts in order to make this a success...passports, visas, language barriers, flying, culture shock; the list is seemingly endless. Despite it all, though, we couldn't be more excited and committed to helping make someone's travel dreams come true.
The first gifting travel trip will be with Fatima and her son Ayat.
And, as always, thanks again for the continued support of what we're doing at Traveller Collective!
