Working with charity: water, a non-profit on a mission to bring clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries, we were able to bring clean water to a community in Ethiopia called Mai Godagudi. As part of its 100% Model, every dollar we donated to charity: water went directly into the field to fund the water project.
In order to implement this project, charity: water worked very closely with its local partner, the Relief Society of Tigray (REST), to develop locally appropriate solutions to water access, sanitation, and hygiene. Because much of Ethiopia has a high water table, our project was a hand-dug well. The community was heavily involved in the construction process, thereby providing them a strong sense of ownership over the entire project.
